EDUCATION / CREDIT CLASSES Credit Administration Program (CAP) Classes
Business Credit Principles Indpls, Michiana or Ft Wayne is a basic course in credit management. Topics to be covered include: credit policy, credit investigation, legal forms of business, decision procedures, open account terms, negotiable instruments, creditor’s rights under the Uniform Commercial Code and collection procedures and problems. (Usually offered in January and September.) Basic Financial Accounting Indpls, Michiana or Ft Wayne is intended to give credit professionals a better understanding of accounting procedures which will help them in performing financial statement analysis. Topics to be covered include: accounting concepts and practices, analyzing transactions, the matching concept and the adjusting process, completing the accounting cycle, cash flow, receivables and inventory evaluation, and investments in short-term and fixed assets. ( Class time varies ) Financial Analysis I Indpls, Michiana or Ft Wayne is an intensive course in financial statement analysis and interpretation. After completion, the student will have a solid understanding of financial statements. Areas to be covered include: the balance sheet, the income statement and statement of retained earnings, statement of cash flows and the analysis of financial statements. (Class time varies) Advanced Credit Administration Program (ACAP) Classes Financial Statement Analysis II is focused on practical application of the concepts from Financial Analysis I. Topics to be covered include: an illustration of statement analysis, liquidity of short-term assets and the related short-term debt-paying ability, long-term debt-paying ability, analysis of profitability and statement of cash flows. (Availability of class varies) Business Law offers an introduction to law and the judicial system. Areas to be addressed include: ethics and the law, the judicial process, the nature, characteristics, and status of contracts: offer, acceptance, consideration, form of the agreement, third parties in contract law, discharge and remedies, nature and kinds of commercial paper, holder in due course, defenses, liabilities and checks and bank collections. (Availability of class varies) Credit Law provides comprehensive knowledge of business law as well as laws specific to the field of credit is critically important to each decision today’s credit executive makes on a daily basis. This course will focus on a broad range of advanced legal issues affecting the credit decision. Topics to be covered include: credit laws and regulations, preferential payments, voluntary and involuntary proceedings, collection law, Uniform Commercial Code, bankruptcy law, letters of credit, security agreements, federal regulations, antitrust and trade regulations, mechanic’s liens and negotiable instruments / promissory notes.
